Santa Fe's passenger depot at Riverside

Thanks to Richard Fortin I was able to obtain plans of the Santa Fe's Pueblo style architecture depot. The depot itself is finished in this scene but the depot grounds are as of yet to be started with the exception of the trees. To see the prototype click this link Santa Fe Depot at Riverside For those that know Old Riverside The Santa Fe Freight depot that was next door is also complete with the exception of the roof. Additionally Kelly Feed is finished. Photos to come later when I figure out how and where to post them on this blog.

Model construction at Cantara begins (18th Crossing of the Sacramento River)

This shot shows the beginning stages of construction at Cantara. There are 4 pieces of the bridge girder plates being built up for the river crossing. They are being designed from prints of the prototype. The bridge shoe castings are also being designed to scale from prototype drawings. I have one of the slab and pin castings finished. 17th crossing of the Sacramento river

This model of the bridge at the 17th crossing is two sections of the Micro Engineerings' plate girder type which equal a 160 ft. span. The actual span of the prototype is unknown to me so this seemed like a good improvisation. I was able to take photos of the prototype but did not have a scale to measure with which was probably for the best anyway. It is often easy to get overburdened with too much information on these projects. More model photos
